Protinica Dubravka Grgurevich, 87, of Alexandria, Virginia reposed in the Lord at home on September 2, 2024. Her peaceful passing followed years of dementia progression. Surviving are her two sons Svetozar (Mary) and Stefan Grgurevich; grandchildren Luka, Marko, and Maya Grgurevich; sister Spomenka (Radoslav) Živojinović: nieces Nataša Ferš and Tamara (Zvonimir) Smrkulj, grand-nephews Aleksandar and Andrej Ferš: grand-niece Jovana Smrkulj: grand-nephew Petar Smrkulj; and numerous other relatives, kumovi and friends.

Protinica Dubravka was born in Belgrade, Serbia on April 25, 1937 to late parents Jovan and Radmila (Janković) Kukić. In addition to her parents, Protinica Dubravka was preceded in blessed repose by her husband, the V. Rev. Stavrophor Dr. Nedeljko Grgurevich and sister, Svetlana Kukić.

She graduated from the First Belgrade Gymnasium and the University of Belgrade Faculty of Philosophy, Department of Ethnology. On February 17, 1963, Dubravka was united in marriage with Nedeljko Grgurevich in Foča, Bosnia and Herzegovina. Together they started a family and continued serving the Serbian Orthodox Church. Protinica’s warmth and generosity extended to her family, guests, and parishioners alike. Her selflessness strengthened and supported others, especially her family. All were better after they met her.

Visitation will be from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm on Saturday, September 7, 2024 at the St. Luke Serbian Orthodox Church, 10660 River Rd., Potomac, MD. Pomen will be at 1:00 pm.

The funeral service (Opelo) will begin on Tuesday, September 10, 2024 at 11:00 am at the St. Sava Serbian Orthodox Monastery, 32377 N. Milwaukee Ave., Libertyville, IL, followed by interment at the Monastery cemetery. A memorial luncheon will be held at the New Gračanica Serbian Orthodox Monastery, 35240 N. Grant St., Third Lake, IL following the funeral.

In lieu of flowers or other expressions of sympathy, donations in Protinica Dubravka’s memory may be made to the St. Luke Serbian Orthodox Church, 10660 River Rd., Potomac, MD, 20854.
